Craft and Dough is now a pretty established eatery in Sheffield. Set up by the guys behind The Milestone there are now two of the pizza restaurants, one in Kelham Island and the other on Campo lane. The restaurant is set apart by its delicious homemade dough and innovative toppings- one pizza is topped with frazzles! With their relaxed decor, open kitchen and friendly staff, Craft and Dough is a calm and enjoyable place for a drink or meal.
Beer lovers will not be disappointed here either. A constantly changing range of ales and world beers will leave you spoilt for choice. If beer isn’t your thing then there is a menu of tasty hand-crafted cocktails to try, along with seasonal specials.
If you needed more motivation to visit, offers are on almost every night. They have deals like £5 margaritas and wine Wednesday (2 pizzas and a bottle of wine for £20). Independent Sheffield card holders can enjoy two pizzas and a drink each for £15.
This chilled out restaurant has an array of pizzas along with delicious sides and desserts. You can personalise any of the made-to-order pizzas with a gluten free base and vegan cheese. The current vegan option is ‘Here comes the sun’ which is topped with courgette, balsamic onions, coriander relish and pumpkin seeds. Just as much thought and time goes into the vegetarian options as the meat ones which is often not the case. The current vegetarian charity special is topped with goat’s cheese and Henderson’s Relish ketchup, of which 50p is donated to St Luke’s Hospice.
So onto the pizzas. They are good. I mean like so good. The dough is super thin in the middle with a lovely thick chewy crust. I am normally one to leave my pizza crust but it almost seems criminal to do so here. The tomato sauce is sweet and rich, so much so that cheese isn’t really necessary. The chefs generously hand top the base with seasonal ingredients, providing a great mix of flavours and textures.
If you’re feeling a bit delicate on Saturday morning, or fancy a relaxed catch up, then their brunch menu is perfect. It offers veggie, vegan and gluten free options alongside coffees and smoothies.
From the service to the hand-stretched pizzas and use of seasonal ingredients it is clear that care and pride is taken in everything they do. I would definitely recommend visiting Craft and Dough. It is a great place for a celebratory meal or date night. The eclectic menu means you are sure to find something to suit everyone. In the summer, the outdoor seating area is a great place to enjoy your drinks while overlooking the river and watching the world go by.
At busy times you can easily book a table online via their website. A takeaway option is available on pizza and drinks for a posh night in.
